Main attractions near Torino Porta Nuova train station

Passengers arriving at Torino Porta Nuova train station are in an ideal position to explore the city. Strolling for 10 minutes along the ancient road of Via Roma, surrounded by tall buildings with arched passageways, visitors might make the most of the shops and boutiques that line this street. Along the way, travellers will reach Piazza CLN, which is adorned with two beautiful statues. Suspended over a fountain, these male and female sculptures represent the story of the two main rivers in the city, the Po and the Dora Riparia. Just a couple minutes further along is one of the best places to enjoy some Italian coffee, Piazza San Carlo, which dates back to the 16th century and is known as Turin’s “living room”. This large paved square is surrounded by grand buildings, palaces and churches, and is adorned with statues, like the equestrian statue of Emanuele Filiberto. Via Roma will also take visitors to Turin’s main square, Piazza Castello, which is enclosed by grand arcades, museums, theatres and cafes.

Cuisine in Turin is just as unique as the city itself. Visitors can experience classic Italian gastronomy with a hint of a French twist. Some of the best places to dine are around the areas between Piazza Carignano and Via Monte di Pietà, which are only a 10-minute walk away from the station. Try out a typical dish like agnolotti (pasta squares) with butter and sage or braised in Barolo (red wine), followed by something from the array of sweet treats on offer, like macaroons or delicious Gianduiotto chocolate!
