Stockholm Central is the main railway station in the Swedish capital. It was opened in 1871 and is located in the central district of Norrmalm. It is estimated that more than 200,000 passengers transit on its 19 platforms every day on board the SJ (Swedish State Railways) trains on their way to Gothenburg, Malmo, Copenhagen, Uddevalla, Falun, Borlange and Ostersund. Stockholm Central station is also served by many private companies, including Tågkompaniet, Øresundståg, MTR Express and DSB First. The station houses the Royal Waiting Room, which is used by the royal family when they travel by train. Stockholm Central station also has a waiting room, automatic ticket machine and ticket office, toilets and accessible facilities for passengers with reduced mobility.
