Thalys are high-speed trains that can go up to 300 km/h. The railway company was the first to successfully link four European countries: France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. Thalys travels daily between Paris and Brussels, Paris and Amsterdam or Paris and Cologne. In 2016, trains will also travel to Dortmund, Germany.
Information on train ticket prices and schedules are available directly on Trainline. But keep reading this page to learn more about the onboard services and the particularities of Thalys trains.
Thalys trains have three classes: Premium, Comfort and Standard.
The Premium class offers comfort and flexibility superior to other classes. In case of cancellation before departure of the train, your ticket is 100% refundable. You can also exchange your ticket at no extra cost.
The Comfort class is also flexible but offers fewer services than the Premium class. In case of cancellation of the ticket, you will be refunded 50% of the train ticket price. You can also modify your ticket, at the price of €15.
For Standard class, the modification and cancellation of tickets are on the same conditions as the Comfort class.
With 23 daily trains, you can reach Brussels in 1h22, from Paris Gare du Nord. You will arrive at Brussels-Midi station, in the centre of the Belgian capital. Do not hesitate to visit the Grand Place and taste the good Belgian chocolate.
Travel from Paris to Amsterdam in just over three hours. More than 10 trains depart daily from Paris Gare du Nord to Amsterdam Centraal Station, via Schiphol Airport.
There are 5 direct trains from Paris Gare du Nord to Cologne. You will be there in just over 3 hours.
Travel from Lille Europe station to the heart of Antwerp, and discover the diamond capital with family or friends. Only two daily trains connect the two cities and the trip lasts 1h19 on average.
Travelling with children
Children under four years old travel free on the Thalys if they are on your lap. A KID ticket gives them a seat. Children under 12 years old travel at the price of €15 in 2nd class or €30 in 1st class.
You can travel with two large suitcases and one carry-on luggage, without weight restriction but each piece of luggage must not exceed 75cm.
WiFi is available free of charge in all Thalys trains via the ThalysNet portal.
Travelling with animals
Animals under 6kg can travel for free if they are transported in a suitable container of maximum 45x30x25cm. Animals over 6kg must have a "Dog" fare and must be leashed and muzzled.
Travelling with bicycles
The bike must be disassembled and transported in a cover of maximum 135x85x30cm.
All trains have a car restaurant where you can buy sandwiches, snacks and drinks.
Unlike the Eurostar, Thalys does not have passport checks before boarding the train. So you can go to your carriage, with your train ticket of course, and ride freely. However, there are baggage checks at the station, so we advise you to arrive at least 15 minutes before the departure of your train.
