Frecciargento trains are high-speed trains operated by Trenitalia. Offering about 50 daily connections between Rome, Venice, Verona, Lecce, Reggio Calabria, Mantua and Genoa, they can reach speeds of 250 km/h.

  • Sibari to Bolzano with stops in Paola, Scalea, Salerno, Napoli Afragola, Rome, Florence, Bologna, Verona, Rovereto and Trento.
  • Milan to Rimini and Ancona with stops in Piacenza and Bologna.
  • Rome Fiumicino Airport to Udine with stops in Rome, Florence, Bologna, Ferrara, Rovigo, Padua, Venice, Treviso, Conegliano and Pordenone.
  • Rome to Trieste with intermediate stops in Florence, Bologna, Padua and Venice.
  • Rome to Verona with stops in Florence and Bologna. 4 trains a day continue to Bergamo.
  • Rome to Mantua with stops in Florence, Bologna, Modena and Carpi.
  • Rome to Genoa with intermediate stops in Florence, Pisa and La Spezia.
  • Rome to Lecce with stops in Caserta, Benevento, Foggia, Barletta, Bari, Brindisi and Lecce.

Frecciargento tickets

Trenitalia offers three types of train tickets to board Frecciargento trains – Super Economy, Economy and Base. Ticket prices depend on the class, travel date and number of seats available.

Super Economy

The Super Economy ticket fare is the cheapest yet least flexible option for travelling on Frecciargento trains – you can’t change your ticket nor ask for a refund once booked. Visit our Trenitalia Super Economy tickets page to find out more.

 

Economy

The Economy ticket is another cheap option offered by Trenitalia, but it’s more flexible than the Super Economy fare – you can change your travel date and time only once before your departure. Learn more on our page about Trenitalia Economy tickets.

Base

Trenitalia Base tickets correspond to the standard full-price tickets and are the most flexible ticket type – you can change your travel date and time as much as you want before your departure. For more information, check out our Trenitalia Base Fare Tickets page.

Frecciargento classes

On Frecciargento trains you can choose to travel either on first or second class. Keep reading to discover all the available services.

Both classes offer the following services:

  • Free and unlimited WiFi
  • Power sockets at every seat
  • Reclining seats
  • A toilet in every carriage (there’s a disabled toilet in carriage 3)
  • The FRECCE portal, where you can watch movies and TV series and read online magazines and travel information
  • Travel monitor with information about the journey
  • Air conditioning
  • LED lighting
  • Large space for luggage
  • Reserved wheelchair spaces for disabled passengers
  • Baby changing facilities.

Frecciargento First Class

Each Frecciargento train has two First Class carriages with large leather armchairs, reclining tables, reading lights and plenty of legroom and space for luggage. You can also enjoy a welcome service with snacks and drinks and a free newspaper of your choice.

Frecciargento Second Class

Frecciargento Second Class carriages offer large faux leather armchairs arranged in rows of four, and come with plenty of space for luggage.  

Frecciargento trains

Frecciargento are Pendolino tilting trains and can be of three types – ETR 600, ETR 485 and the new ETR 700.

Frecciargento ETR 700

ETR 700 is the new Frecciargento train that is currently operating on the Adriatic coast from Milan to Bari. This train can reach speeds of up to 250 km/h and offers fast onboard WiFi and USB sockets at every seat, as well as three classes – Business, Premium and Standard.

Frecciargento ETR 600

This type of train consists of seven carriages, two first-class and five second-class (including a bar/dining car).

Frecciargento ETR 485

Frecciargento ETR 485 trains have nine carriages – three are first-class, five are second-class and one is a bar/dining car.

Frecciargento WiFi

Want to connect to the onboard WiFi for free? Here’s all the information you need to know.

If you want to use Frecciargento’s onboard WiFi, simply connect to the ‘WIFI Frecciargento’ network, launch your internet browser and register on the Frecce Portal. The WiFi service on Frecciargento trains is free and provided by TIM via the 3G / 4G network.

The onboard entertainment offer includes:

  • Cinema: Movies and TV programmes
  • Digital newsstand: national newspapers and magazines
  • Music: playlists of Italian and international music
  • News: videos and articles about the news of the day
  • Travel information: information on train times, cruise speed, connections and weather.
